AlterNative Website & Features

This month in December 2008 "AlterNative: An International Journal of Indigenous Peoples" has released its new website [www.alternative.ac.nz]. It provides a range of features normally associated with academic journals, including the various submission formats, how to participate, indigenous publications, journal and subscription information and editorial board profiles. The journals objectives and themes can be found on the 'About the Journal' page.

In seeking to contribute to international indigenous scholarship, a unique component of the website also offers researchers and specialists an 'international indigenous portal'. Some of these features found under the 'Native Affairs' banner includes indigenous news stories (updated weekly), upcoming indigenous conferences/events and a blogging forum. Over the course of 2009 AlterNative will be releasing additional features, including scholarship/funding information, a database of international indigenous researchers and AlterNative's own indigenous wikipedia - profile information of indigenous peoples around the world.

AlterNative is interested to hear people's thoughts about the new website and any recommendations for additional features that can be included.
