AlterNative's Call for Papers OPEN 24/7!
AlterNative: An International Journal of Indigenous Peoples is now calling for papers for publication in 2020. We welcome submissions all year round, 24/7! Visit AlterNative's SAGE-hosted site at http://journals.sagepub.com/home/aln to SUBMIT ONLINE.
AlterNative is multidisciplinary; internationally peer-reviewed journal published continually online as well as in quarterly print issues. AlterNative presents scholarly research on Indigenous worldviews and experiences of decolonisation from Indigenous perspectives from around the world.
AlterNative publishes papers that substantively address and critically engage with Indigenous issues from an Indigenous scholarly viewpoint. All papers must address and engage with current international and national literature and academic and Indigenous theory and make a significant contribution to the field of Indigenous studies.
AlterNative publishes articles predominately in English but also welcomes submissions in Indigenous languages. Previously published articles, translated into English, may be approved.
Contributors are expected to meet internationally accepted guidelines on carrying out ethical and culturally competent research involving Indigenous peoples and to conform to the standards for authors set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Submissions responding to this general call for papers should relate to one or more themes of the journal—origins, place, peoples, community, culture, history, heritage, colonialism, power, intervention, development, and self-determination.
Articles should range between 5,000 and 7,000 words, including title, abstract, keywords and references. AlterNative also publishes short and timely commentaries on critical issues concerning Indigenous peoples. Commentaries should be between 3,000 and 4,000 words long, including references, abstract, and keywords. A sample article, sample commentary and author guidelines, including format and referencing styles, can be found under Submission Guidelines.
