Adding Feeds to your site

If you would like to add news items from feeds form other sites, you would need to:

First, get the Feed URL

  1. Just click on the RSS Feeds button, which is usually found either at the top of the page, close to the title or in the feeds section
  2. If presented with a variety of feed sources, choose Atom
  3. Copy the Feed URL

Next, access the News Aggregator

  1. Log onto the site and go to http://www.alternative.ac.nz/admin/content/aggregator
    • or navigate to Administer / By Module / News Aggregator from the admin page
  2. In the News Aggregator page, you will see a list of feeds that have been added to the site
  3. Click on Add a Feed
  4. Enter the title of the feed source and URL which you copied earlier, then click Submit

Then, update the feed items

  1. Return to the News Aggregator page and click on Update Items for each new feed source that you have added
    • Afterwards, you will see under items how many new news stories have been added to the site
  2. You can also just type in http://www.alternative.ac.nz/cron.php in your browser.
    • This should load all the Feed Sources with the latest items

Just like that.

When you're done, you should be able to view all the feed items in http://www.alternative.ac.nz/aggregator

Please note: Only users assigned the Admin and Super Admin roles can add newsfeeds.
