Images used to create Rotor Banner items must be a specific width and height (350px by 232px). You will need image editing software to crop or scale your banner pictures accordingly, not to mention applying text overlays on them.
Note: The following steps may include shortcuts that presume you are using either Photoshop or Fireworks on a PC.
- Launch your image editing software and create a new file with the following dimensions
- width: 350 pixels
- height: 232 pixels
- resolution: 72 dpi
- Drag, load or paste in your raw image into this new blank file
- Ideally, the raw image should be larger than the blank file, not smaller
- If you scale a smaller image to fit within the required dimensions, the picture will become blurred or pixellated
- Activate the scale function of your software, click on a corner of the raw image and - while holding down the CTRL key - resize the image
- The corner of the raw image may lie outside the edges of the blank file
- Holding down the CTRL key ensures that the image is not strecthed or distorted while you scale
- No blank space must be left visible
- If some part of the image lies beyond the edge, that's okay, so long as the focal point of the image is still within the frame
- You can move the image around until it is positioned correctly in the frame
- When you're done, save your file.
- Now, you need to optimise the image so the file size isn't too large for the web
- Use the Save for Web or Export feature
- In the optimisation settings, choose JPEG and specify a quality of medium or better
- Export the file and use the resulting image for your Rotor Banner
